Buffalo Remembrance Project – Gallery Opening

Help us honor the women once confined to the Buffalo State Asylum.

This special exhibition is a collaboration between the Richardson Olmsted Campus and UB’s Anderson Gallery and features photographed objects contributed by community members in remembrance of women institutionalized at the Buffalo State Asylum between 1880 and 1974.

Presented in conjunction with Eighty-Six Reasons for Asylum Admission by Kimberly Chapman, the installation creates a powerful dialogue between personal memory, institutional history, and contemporary art.

Join us this Thursday, January 29th from 6pm to 8pm for the exhibition’s opening right in the gallery space of the Richardson Hotel. Learn more about the project from those directly involved and enjoy some small appetizers throughout the night.

When you arrive, use the main Richardson Hotel entrance (Buffalo State side). Right inside the main vestibule you will see the gallery space where the exhibition is being held. We hope to see you there!
