By June 1, 2024March 24th, 2025No Comments

On Saturday June 1st, the LACB co-hosted a panel with PreservationWorks at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.  We learned that preservation comes in many forms and discussed the different ways that developers, locals, architecture aficionados, and even urban explorers can come together to support historic preservation.

We heard from people involved with various Kirkbride Hospitals and other historic properties around the country including GreystoneThe Ridges, Hudson River State Hospital, Danvers State Hospital, Westborough State Hospital, Kings Park, Cressen Sanatorium & PrisonBuffalo Central Terminal, and of course, the Richardson Olmsted Campus.

We were excited to welcome Monica Pellegrino Faix from the Buffalo Central Terminal (and former ED of the Richardson Olmsted Campus), as well as Joe Recchie, CEO of the Community Building Partners, from the Athens, Ohio Ridges project to discuss adaptive reuse at these historic properties.
